Grasshopper Baseball Game

Saturday night we had tickets to the Greensboro Grasshopper's Baseball Game. Our department at work (Water Resources) gave out tickets. We had planned on going to that game anyway so it was great when we got to go for free. Jonah is a member of the team's Babes Buddies and one of the perks was before the game he got to come early and eat pizza and then get some of the players autograph.

Babe and Yogi are two black labs that are part of the team and help the team out during the game by getting balls and taking bats back to the dug out. They came to the pizza party and decided to see if Jonah would share his pizza.

Shane didn't have any pizza but Babe seemed to like him.

After pizza Jonah got some of the players to autograph their baseball card.

Emmett making a funny face and Jonah.

My sister-in-law Amy and Shane's brother, Mark also came.

After the game they had fireworks.
The fireworks were terrific!

Melinda, one of my best friends and co-worker, her sister & my sis-in-law Amy, Emmett, Mark, and Shane and a few other co-workers watching the fireworks.

We had the BEST night!!!

Words to live by...

I follow a blog called 32 Sycamore here is the link http://granvillehouse.blogspot.com/
today I read an entry that I loved so much that I'll share it...
words to live by Wednesday...
No, it's not a new feature, but it sounds good~maybe it will be, or should be. I was going to share a cool trick for bedsheets for WFMW, but these words from Anna Quindlen touched me deeply and are on my mind this week.Maybe because it's summer.Maybe because I have kids the exact ages she speaks of.Maybe because I'm a big "get it done-er. "Thanks for letting me share:

“The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. . . . I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of [my three children] sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less”

Thank you Ms. Quindlen.

Transportation Museum

This past weekend we all went to the Transportation Museum in Spencer NC. They were having a special weekend called Rail Days. We had taken Jonah when he was Luke's age but not been back sense. We went early to beat the heat. We had a fun day looking at trains mostly but they also had tractors, cars, planes, all kinds of transportation.
We first rode a train of cabooses.

Luke had to make a funny face....

Taken from inside the caboose

This is the caboose train we were on.

This was inside a Cone Mills box car that showed the history of textiles.

Shane pushing the girl's around.

Jonah & Luke pretending to drive a train.

The train they were pretending in.

Lilly was showing Jonah something.

Rosemary leading Shane around.

Luke by a big old tractor.

We had a great time and it is such a great day trip to go on.

Field Day at Jonah's School

This past Tuesday I went to Jonah's school for Field Day. I helped run one of the stations so I didn't get many pictures. One game I helped with was the kids worked together to carry this huge ball around four cones. The team that went around the cones the most in a timed period won a ticket. The teams could also get tickets for team spirit. I'm not real sure what the class with the most tickets won other than bragging rights. I had a lot of fun and the kids seemed to also. It was a hot day but all the games were done by 11am, thank goodness.
Jonah's class

After they finished with the games the Summerfield Fire Dept. came and cooled everyone off with a mist of water. Pretty cool!

Jonah's class loved it.

Jonah and a few friends.
After all the classes cooled off we went back to the class and other parents came for lunch. We all chipped in and had Subway. The BEST part of the day for me was while we were waiting to eat most of the Mom's had gathered at the back of the class chit chatting and Jonah came up to me and asked me to sit with him at his desk. Usually he wants me near but not with him so it really meant a lot to me for him to ask me to sit with him!

Happy 1st Birthday, Adelyn!

This weekend we went to my brother Michael's house in Monroe for his daughter's 1st Birthday Party.
Adelyn was so cute in her birthday hat! My sister-in-law's mother told us that she was the exact same weight & height as Megan was when she was 1 and they look exactly alike. I just love facts like that about people. The weather was perfect, the food was yummy, and we all had a great time.
Wasn't she cute in her birthday hat!

Yummy cake!

Lilly liked her crown.

Rosemary's crown didn't stay on long. She's sitting in her Grandpa Jim's lap with Grandma Teena looking on.

He he he- even Luke looked cute in a crown.

The boys gathered around as Adelyn tried out her new toy

Adelyn was nice to let Lilly try her toy out and even gave her a push.

Jonah looked on at cake time. He is getting so grown up and handsome like his daddy.

Look what Grandpa Jim found

My Dad, Grandpa Jim loves to get up every Saturday and go to Yard Sales. Last Saturday he found the coolest thing, a horse. Not a real horse but it can move it's head, eyes, mouth and make noises. I'm sure it could do more when it was new but it does plenty to entertain our kids.
Lilly took the longest to warm up to the horse but as you can see she finally started to like him.

I thought Rosemary would not like the horse at all but she surprised me and was much braver than her sister.

We have a climber....

This weekend Rosemary figured out how to climb into chairs. If the chair was at the kitchen table she then went onto the table. After a few times up and down Lilly caught on and joined her sister. Great, just what I need. I thought only boys were climbers?
1st step in climbing into a chair...

2nd step both knees in the chair...

3rd step take a quick break....

4th step stand and turn around...

Final step...sit.

Lilly could not figure out where to put her chair...

Maybe over here...

This is the spot!

Jonah decided to play his DS under the fort on the porch swing.

Luke rested over near where the girl's and Daddy sat.
Just another Sunday taking it easy.
