Day at the Zoo with Good Friends!

Monday was a teacher's work day for Jonah and Luke's school so we decided it was a good day for a Mommy and her boys outing. My good friend Melinda and her son, Emmett went with us. We went to the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro.
Jonah, Luke, and me.

We saw lots of animals. At first it seemed like every animal was taking their morning nap but as the day went on more animals were active. We got to see the elephants up close. The otters, seals and sea lions were active. We saw the turtles, lizards, giraffes, and puffins eat their lunch. A crocodile was blowing bubbles in the water. When we got home we looked it up and learned he was blowing bubbles to try and get a girlfriend.

There were all kinds of statues to climb in and on. They were a big hit, like this egg Emmett and Luke got in.

There were several exhibits to learn about different animals, this one had a helicopter to play in.

Luke did his best to keep up with his big brother, climbing on rocks and statues.

We all had a lot of fun and were exhausted by the time we got home.

Luke's Fall Field Trip

Today I went with Luke and his class to a local farm. It is a sixth generation farm. They grow sunflowers, soy beans, barley, corn, and a few other crops. We learned about the farm, went on a hay ride, walked in a corn maze, and then played, played, played.
in the pumpkins...

Climbed up the hay bails...

to the top...

and down again...

on a hay tractor...

hello...

let's rest for a minute...

they had mini silos with corn in them...

it was fun playing in the corn...

relaxing in the corn...

Today reminded me of the farm my Grandmother grew up on and I can't wait for Thanksgiving to get here so we can go play with cousins and eat a bunch of yummy food.
We had a great time. It was a beautiful day and I loved spending time with Luke doing something new. I think we'll go back with the rest of the family it was so much fun!

Luke's 4th Birthday

Luke turned 4 on October 6th. We needed a party around the house because just about everyone was sick with a throat virus. Luke decided he wanted Chinese Food for dinner that night. For his cake he wanted a Scooby Doo, Haunted House, Skeleton Cake. I couldn't put Scooby on the cake so we had Scooby Doo napkins but the cake had everything else he wanted and he thought it was perfect!

He was so happy. Luke had us to sing Happy Birthday before we ate our dinner and again before we ate cake.
Lilly & Grandpa Jim loved the cake!

Brotherly love... Jonah & Luke
It's so much fun to open presents!

Especially when you get what you wanted...a video game so I can be just like my big brother.
