What a great surprise!

We got the best surprise a few weeks ago! Shane's Grandpa called, he put his wife Rita on the phone and she said they would like to come up here from Florida for a visit. Me and the kids had never met them. It had been years since Shane had seen his Grandpa and he had never met Rita. Shane's Grandpa had just had his teeth and I think some bone removed because he had mouth cancer. They wanted to come for a visit before he started radiation treatments.
It had to be the best weekend! I can't explain how much it meant to Shane. They arrived Friday morning and we got to visit while Jonah & the girl's were at school. Luke was at home and took to Rita immediately. Soon Jonah got home and I went to get the girls. We all visited, learned about each other...it was great.
The next day Shane and Mr. Keller went fishing. Shane LOVES to go fishing and so does his Grandpa. The guys returned after lunch. It was a perfect weekend, the weather was beautiful, we talked and played outside all weekend.

We learned all kinds of things about Mr. Keller and Rita. They are amazing you would never know they are 87 and 89 years old.

We threw ball, and learned that Mr. Keller grew up on a farm in upper New York State. They grew cherry trees, he built his own motorcycle from scratch, and so much more.

Mom and Dad also enjoyed their visit, they slept at their house which allowed us more time to spend together.

The kids loved playing and visiting with them. First thing in the morning they asked where great grandpa and great grandma was.

Everyone wanted to swing, first Lilly & Rosemary ...

Then Lilly wanted to push Luke.

Even Rita and Hank wanted to swing.

This weekend meant to much to Shane and therefore it meant a lot to me. I really hate they didn't get to know each other all these years because they are a lot alike. Hopefully soon we'll get to see them again!
